About Young Chef Olympiad

Young Student Chefs from 67+ nations after getting selected from different colleges from 67+ nations, will fly down to India on 26th January (67th republic day for India) to represent their country in a cook-off that will last 4 days starting 29th January to 1st February. The results will be collated and the Grand Finale is scheduled on Monday 1st February 2015 at Kolkata.

About Young Chef Fathmath Saaniha Mausoof


My name is Fathmath Saaniha Mausoof. I live in Male’, Maldives. I have always been fascinated by Culinary arts and have taken actual steps towards of my dream of becoming a chef. I’m 23 years old and I’m currently working as a trainee at a leading restaurant in the main city. So far I have participated in Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge twice and won a bronze medal recently. As an independent, resourceful and responsible person, i welcome any challenging work in Young Chef Olympiad competition. Challenges are more than welcome as i work well both in team and independently.

About the participating college


Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies- FHTS- is the oldest tourism institute in the Maldives- since 1987, the faculty had trained over 12000 graduates holding leading positions within the Maldivian tourism industry and abroad. During its inception, the institute was operated fully by expatriates, mainly Europeans, due to the lack of trained experts available within the Maldives. The project was an initiation of the United Nations and the European Economic Council. Today, the faculty operates under the umbrella of the Maldives National University, which is the largest university in the Maldives. The University’s vision is to perform and acknowledge d as the most outstanding academic institute of the nation and to be one of the finest in the region. FHTS has the largest training facility in the Maldives with state-of-the-art class rooms, audio visual room fully equipped demonstration kitchens, mock bar training restaurants, guest rooms and industrial laundry, banquet hall, well designed reception and meeting rooms. FHTS takes pride in offering a wide range of quality programmes from Certificate to post graduate level focusing on both practical’s and theories relevant to this dynamic industry. Moreover, the faculty has five centres based in the populous areas of the Maldives.
